What is LPS 1673?
Developed by LPCB, the standard draws on extensive research conducted by the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), the UK government’s national technical authority for physical and personnel protective security. The standard’s development was also supported by National Counter Terrorism Security Office and the US Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
With the support of these three organisations, LPS 1673 provides an industry benchmark for building materials that offer resistance against fast-moving, violent attempts of forced entry. The standard specifically focuses on attacks conducted by individuals using bladed and blunt-impact weapons, targeting people and valuable assets.
Products tested and certified to LPS 1673 carry third-party approval for the effective levels of protection against these fast-moving, violent forced entry attempts. This covers targeted attacks on high profile individuals in their homes or places of work as well as marauding terrorist attacks.
The Richmond doorset range has undergone this rigorous testing by BRE to confirm its resistance against fast-moving, violent forced entry attacks using tools such as machetes, hand axes, bolt cutters, crowbars and fire extinguishers. We are proud to be the first timber door manufacturer to offer a tested and certified solution to meet the stringent assault rating requirements of LPS 1673.
