Apprentices at Stafford Bridge – National Apprenticeship Week – 6-12 February 2023

Here at Stafford Bridge, we have an extensive manufacturing operation, employing 33 skilled craftsmen in the creation and construction of our renowned door sets.

To future proof our business we have an established Apprentice Programme to educate and pass on to the next generation the unique skills that are used at Stafford Bridge. During National Apprenticeship Week we wanted to feature our Apprentices and their education and training.

Both Frederico (L) and Evan (R) have been working as part of our team and the local FE College for more than a year as Apprentice Carpenter and Joiners.

They are now into the second year of their Apprenticeship, spending six weeks with us at Stafford Bridge and two weeks at College each term.

“I am involved in so much at Stafford Bridge, working on the entire process of crafting a security door which I am really enjoying,” says Frederico, adding “I am learning about and working with the wide variety of materials that we use in the door sets, developing my skills and experience. Apprenticeship gives me so much for my future.”

Evan adds, “I’m learning about every process, from selection of timber, the infills that go into the doorset, assembly and hanging of the doors. To help make a bespoke craftmanship product is a real buzz because I know that it is going to last for decades.”

Chris Woods Production and Technical Manager and Peter Covington Production Manager at Stafford Bridge are responsible for the Apprenticeship Programme.
